Jordan Experience Tour (Aqaba – Petra – Wadi Rum) 3 Days – $1000

Tour Description:

Mantis Tours is a reputable local tour operator that is specialized in Petra Wadi Rum tours. Our Jordan Experience Tour for 3 days tour in Jordan is a special tour that will allow you to truly experience Jordan. We recommend to book this tour in advance.

We will pick you up from your accommodation in Eilat (we pick-up from all the hotels in Eilat, from Eilat airport and from Eilat central bus station) at 09:00am, and take you to Arava border crossing.

Our representative in Eilat will collect the money for the tour and for the border fees, and help you with the border procedures in the Israeli side of the border.

Just after crossing the border to Jordan, our Jordanian representative will meet you at the border, help you with the border procedures in the Jordanian side of the border, and take you to your professional Jordanian English-speaking guide (guides in other languages are also available) who will take you to your excursion to Petra Wadi Rum.

After finishing the border procedures, we drive to Aqaba and have a guided city tour. Explore the popular tourist town of Aqaba, Jordan’s only port city. Surrounded by rugged mountains that subtly change color as the day unfolds. The city of Aqaba offers many shopping outlets with the best rates in the country as it is the only Economic Free Zone in Jordan. So, treat yourself and enjoy your day shopping.

Step back in time wandering about the partially rebuilt Aqaba Castle. Visit the Archaeological Museum and the House of Sharif Hussein bin Ali. Both are in the same complex that you can enter either from the Great Arab Revolt Plaza or from the side street of the castle.

Visit the Aquarium, Part of the Marine Science Station complex (7.5km south of Aqaba), the aging and dated tanks nonetheless provide a colorful glimpse of coral, moray eels, turtles and stone-fish.

Have lunch with a local Jordanian family in Aqaba. You will be cooked Mansaf (a local Jordanian meal) just the way it is done in a million of homes around Jordan. Enjoy your time, get engaged with Jordanian traditions and have an enjoyable chat with one of the Jordanian families known for their good hospitality.

From Aqaba we will have about two hours drive to the UNESCO city of Petra, traveling through a scenic route of the “Desert Way”, and stopping on the way in an observation point on the magnificent view of Wadi Rum. During the drive, your specialist guide will give you an in-depth briefing on the history of Jordan and its culture.

We will arrive to Petra in the evening. You will check in at your 4-star hotel in Petra, and have dinner at the hotel. After dinner, you can enjoy Petra by Night show (available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), walking through the Siq lighted by hundreds of candles.

On the second day, after breakfast at the hotel, you will have a full day of guided tour in Petra with you professional tour guide. Your guide will give you the entrance tickets to Petra, and we will enter Petra through the Siq (a narrow gorge). Included in your package is an optional horseback riding for the first 600 meters of the route, from the Visitor’s Center until the beginning of the Siq (tipping the handler is required – minimum $3).

On the way to the Siq, we will see the ‘Silica Quarries’, the Jinn Blocks and the ‘Obelisk Tomb’. We will walk through the narrow Siq into the rock-cut city of Petra. Right by the end of the Siq, we will reveal the most famous monument of Petra – the Treasury (Al Khazneh). After visiting the Treasury, we will continue our tour along the impressive Cardo (a Street of Facades) towards the Nabatean Theater. We will see the views of the Royal Tombs, which you will be able to climb on your free time. We will continue to the Monastery (Al Deir), which is the most impressive monument in Petra.

* Those who have difficulty walking can hire a donkey-drawn buggy for a supplement payment to the local people.

On the way back to the Visitor’s Center, you will have an option to ride on horses and camels, and have carriages for extra charge.

After the walking tour in Petra, we will go to a superior local authentic restaurant in Petra, which is located not far from the entrance to Petra, where you will be served Maqloubeh (a traditional Jordanian dish).

After lunch, you will discover Little Petra, also known as Siq al-Barid, which is an archaeological site located north of the ruins of the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. It is smaller than Petra’s main site, but not less fascinating. Little Petra was built by the Nabataeans, and is widely believed to be a suburb of the ancient city, acting as a post on the Silk Road.

In the evening, we will reach the Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum. You will stay at Sun City camp, which is one of the deluxe Bedouin camps in Wadi Rum. The accommodations are in modern tents that have real beds with clean sheets and pillows, and also private bathrooms and showers. Upon your arrival to the camp, you will get a welcoming Bedouin tea by the very friendly and accommodating staff, and you will be able to watch the beautiful sunset in the enchanting desert.

After getting comfortable in the camp, you will enjoy a very delicious and authentic Bedouin dinner called Zarb. It is a traditional dish of meat or chicken with rice and vegetables that is cooked under the sun in a hole underground covered by sand, which we very recommend!

The highlight of your Petra Wadi Rum tours will be the Bedouin Wedding show in the camp with your participation. The grooms will have traditional Bedouin costumes. An Oud band will play a traditional Bedouin music. The bride will be applied by beautiful intricate henna designs. An Henna artist will paint designs on the bride and her guests. The groom will come riding on a camel surrounded by local Bedouins who will sing for them. Bedouin coffee will be served to the guests. The groom and the bride will dance, while the guests with the local Bedouins form a circle around them and clap to the music during the dance of the couple, and then everybody will dance. The groom will cut the cake with a sword, and you will be served a Bedouin tea. You are promised to have a really great fun!

On the third day, after watching the outstanding sunrise and have breakfast in the camp, you will have an extended 6 hours jeep safari tour in the magnificent landscapes of Wadi Rum nature reserve that will take you deep into the desert. You will discover many scriptures and drawings of past civilizations carved into the stone 4000 years ago. Visit the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Lawrence Spring, Khazali Canyon, Red Sand Dunes, Anfishieh Inscriptions, House of Lawrence, Burdah Arch, Um Frouth Arch, Small Sand Dune and the ‘Chicken’ Rock.

During the jeep tour, you will have a BBQ lunch in the middle of the desert with a complementary Bedouin coffee/tea (included in the price), and you will also have an option for some hiking in the desert, as well as an option for a camel ride for an extra charge.

In the evening, we will drive back to Arava border crossing. Our representative in Eilat will wait for you around 19:00 to take you back to your accommodation, and you will also be given a personalized souvenir as a present.
